Commercial Insulation in North Idaho

Empire Insulation sprays closed-cell foam in commercial buildings across North Idaho, including warehouses, shops and workspaces. It cuts heat loss and drafts and keeps condensation off metal. Nick Bond quotes the job himself, can phase it around business hours or spray after hours, and sprays it with one consistent crew member.

What we handle

Why commercial jobs start with scope and access

In a commercial building, the insulation is only part of the decision. The rest is your business: which areas can close, what stock and equipment has to move, and how high walls and roof decks get reached. Closed-cell foam insulates and air-seals large wall and roof areas in one pass, which suits warehouses and metal-sided shops that lose heat through every gap.

Nick scopes and quotes commercial jobs himself, then sprays them with one consistent crew member and stays on site start to finish. You deal with the same person from the first call to the last pass. Empire can phase the work around business hours or spray after hours. Ratio monitoring tracks the foam mix while he sprays, and an application report is available on request; commercial and industrial clients are the ones most likely to want one.

Some projects need more than foam. Where a coating thermal barrier is needed, Empire offers an intumescent coating that suits commercial and industrial buildings and costs more than regular paint. Wall assemblies, sound control, vapor barriers and hybrid insulation packages are options too. Tell Nick how the space is used and he can say which apply.

Large buildings lose heat and comfort through the shell in a few predictable ways. Here is what foam addresses and what to plan for.

  • Heating a big, leaky building

Foam on walls and roof decks slows heat loss and seals gaps across large open areas. Comfort still depends on your heating and ventilation.

  • Cold drafts at overhead doors

Foam fills the gaps around door framing, eaves and penetrations, so the people working near the doors are not standing in a draft.

  • Condensation dripping on stock

Warm air meeting a cold metal roof condenses and drips. Closed-cell foam on the panels stops the air and vapor that cause it.

  • Noise between work areas

Sound control and wall assemblies are project options for offices and workspaces. Tell Nick what you need to separate.

  • Upgrading an older building

Foam goes where framing or surfaces are open. Old insulation in the way needs clearing first, so plan that into the schedule.

  • Work after hours

Empire can phase work around business hours or spray after hours. A recent 7,000-square-foot industrial job was sprayed at night and on weekends to get it done.

Customer reviews & pricing

  • I've utilized many insulation companies over the years and rarely write reviews, but Nick and his guys did an outstanding job and I would HIGHLY recommend them. Their price was excellent, the work was perfect, and they are extremely clean and organized.

What affects the price

Each commercial job is quoted on its own, and estimates are free. Scope, access and how long areas stay out of use move the number more than the building's footprint.

JobWhat affects the quote
Commercial Insulation Scope, access and time out of the work area
  • Scope and surface area: Walls, roof decks and gable ends count by surface, not floor area. A tall or complex roof has more surface than its footprint suggests.
  • Foam type and thickness: Empire sprays 2-lb closed-cell and HFO closed-cell. The type and installed thickness change how much material goes on.
  • Access and working height: Scaffolding, lifts and tight spaces add setup. Stock and equipment along the walls may need to move before spraying.
  • Time out of the work area: Splitting the job into phases around business hours or occupied areas changes how the work is scheduled and set up.
  • Coverings and finish: Occupied spaces generally need an approved thermal barrier over the foam. Empire offers an intumescent coating where it fits; drywall is a separate trade Empire doesn't install.

Questions we get

Can you work around business hours or spray after hours?

Yes. Empire can phase the work around business hours or spray after hours. A recent 7,000-square-foot industrial job was done at night and on weekends to finish it. Areas being sprayed stay clear of staff, customers and other trades during spraying, cleanup and the product's re-occupancy period, so tell Nick which areas can close and when.

Is closed-cell the right foam for a commercial building?

Often. Closed-cell is dense, holds more heat per inch than open-cell and resists water vapor, which suits metal roofs and walls. Empire sprays 2-lb closed-cell and HFO closed-cell. It is not the right choice for every assembly, so the plan depends on your building and how you use it.

Does spray foam have to be covered in a workspace?

Usually, yes. Spray foam is combustible, so codes generally require an approved thermal barrier, such as gypsum drywall, between foam and occupied space. Where a coating fits the foam and assembly, Empire offers an intumescent thermal-barrier coating. Some attics, crawl spaces and tested assemblies follow different rules. The answer depends on the product, how the space is used and local code.

Will foam fix condensation or roof leaks?

It deals with condensation. Closed-cell foam on metal panels stops the warm, moist air and the vapor drive from reaching the cold steel. It does not repair a leaking roof or replace drainage, so fix leaks first, then insulate.

Can we get an application report for our records?

Yes, on request. Nick's Graco rig monitors the ratio of the two foam components while he sprays. The application report shows how much foam was sprayed on the job and the ratio it went on at, a useful record for a building owner, a general contractor or a facilities file.

What should I send to get an estimate?

Call, text or use the form with what the building is used for, its rough size, the areas you want insulated and when areas can be cleared. Photos of the framing help. Nick gives a rough number from that and a firm quote once he has seen the building. Estimates are free, and veterans and service members get a discount that depends on the job.

What happens next

  1. Reach out

Call, text or send the form with your building and what you want insulated.

  2. Rough estimate, then a firm quote

Nick gives a rough number from what you send, then a firm quote once he has seen the job. Simple pole barns can often be quoted remotely.

  3. Clear the building

Move everything you can off the floor and out of the way. If you physically can't, tell Nick and the crew will help.

  4. Spray day and cleanup

Nick sprays the foam with one consistent crew member and stays on site throughout. Jobs are left cleaner than when the crew arrived.
