About Empire Insulation

"We're quality first. We are excited about helping people achieve their dreams and being part of their journey as they build their future." That's how Nick Bond puts it. He took over Empire Insulation in St. Maries in April 2022, and he still quotes the jobs and sprays the foam himself, with one consistent crew member. Morgan keeps the books.

Nick Bond · Owner

Your estimate and your installation come from the same person. Nick Bond owns Empire Insulation, handles the estimates and sprays the foam himself. He has 8 years of insulation experience and 8 years of construction experience, and he's a Spray Foam Worldwide (SFWW) ambassador. Estimates are free, and veterans and service members get a discount that depends on the job.

"We treat your house like a home," Nick says. "We make sure we're not disrespecting the house, and we're treating it as your future dream home, not just as another project for us." Customers often compliment the crew on how respectful they are with job sites, and jobs are left cleaner than when the crew arrived.

Every house, building and customer is different, so Nick works out what each one needs and fits the solution to their expectations and budget. He's honest when foam isn't worth it: it usually pays for itself in 3 to 10 years, so if you'll sell within 1 to 2 years you probably won't get your money back.

His rule of thumb on depth: 2 inches minimum (closed-cell is a Class II vapor retarder at 1.5 to 2); 2 on the walls and 3 on the roof for a heated shop, 3 and 4 at most; 4 and 6 for cold storage; 6 usually the max, 7 to 8 where Washington code calls for R-49.

One house he worked on, about 5 years old and 2,500 square feet with $1,000 monthly electric bills, tested at 15 air changes per hour at 50 pascals, mostly through the attic. Empire sealed the attic, and the retest came in at 5.

Our story

Empire Insulation was started in St. Maries under its previous owner, Nick Parker.

Nick Bond took over the business in April 2022 and runs it from St. Maries, travelling 100+ miles for projects in Idaho; longer trips depend on project size.

Today, Nick handles estimates and installation with a consistent crew member. Morgan manages the bookkeeping.

Empire's main offering is 2-lb closed-cell and HFO closed-cell spray foam for residential and commercial projects. Open-cell foam can be provided for specific projects, but Empire generally does not spray it.

Project options also include shipping containers, crawl-space encapsulation, monolithic insulation, wall assemblies, painting exposed shop foam, intumescent thermal-barrier coating, vapor barriers, sound control, hybrid packages and air sealing.

Commercial jobs can run after hours: a recent 7,000-square-foot industrial job was sprayed at night and on weekends. Empire does not offer blown-in insulation or insulation removal.

What happens next

  1. Reach out

Call, text or send the form with your building and what you want insulated.

  2. Rough estimate, then a firm quote

Nick gives a rough number from what you send, then a firm quote once he has seen the job. Simple pole barns can often be quoted remotely.

  3. Clear the building

Move everything you can off the floor and out of the way. If you physically can't, tell Nick and the crew will help.

  4. Spray day and cleanup

Nick sprays the foam with one consistent crew member and stays on site throughout. Jobs are left cleaner than when the crew arrived.
